WCLX 2209 – Reefer

This refrigerator car or “reefer” is a refrigerated boxcar designed to carry meat products at cold temperatures. Ice was added to interior bunkers through hatches in the roof. It was built in 1957.

Length: 44 ft. 11 in.

Wilson Car Lines Reefer No. 2209 was donated to the ORM in 2016 by Brent Swift. The car is currently missing the running gear (trucks, wheels, brake gear, and couplers). It was delivered to the Museum and placed near Owanda siding.
