Steam At The Throttle
YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO BE A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER
April 10-12 & 17-19, 2026
Take the reins of the “Iron Horse”! “At the Throttle” is a unique opportunity for rail fans to live their dream of running a steam locomotive. You will be able to power down the tracks behind Jeddo Coal Company #85.
No previous locomotive experience is required. A qualified
engineer will be in the cab at all times. Participants will enjoy a
half hour of operating the engine, including safety orientation.
Participants must be at least 18 years old with a valid
driver’s license. Clothing appropriate to a working rail yard
should be worn at all times. Gloves, long pants, long
sleeve shirts, and closed-toe shoes are required. Safety
glasses and ear protection are recommended. Participants
wishing to have their picture made should bring a
camera.
At Engineer’s discretion, one person 12 years of age and older may ride in the cab with the driver.
Release forms are required. Please print, sign, and bring with you.
Diesel At The Throttle

Schedule 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM

No previous locomotive experience is required. A qualified
